Recent Pickups: Version 1

I tend to shop around, and one of my most recently discovered favorite places to game shop at is Play-N-Trade. It's a franchise meaning that each individual store is independently owned, so you never know what you're going to get at each location. Also some of them offer membership cards which give you 20% off, but others don't. I got an additional 20% off of these games.

I recently picked up three games for the PS1 there.

Street Sk8ter-

This one actually hit prior to Tony Hawk, but resembles the Arcade skating games of the day where you race down through a course. It's one I always wanted to try, and for a mere 99 cents, it was worth buying. It's no Tony Hawk, but it's fun for what it is. Granted, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing in this game. I guess I'll eventually figure it out.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories-

The Cartoon hit around my senior year in high school, and I'd occasionally watch it. Anyways, I always wanted to try this game. I got it complete for about $5. It's not bad from what I've played. There aren't many card battling games out there, and it's nice for a change of pace. The only other similar game on the PS1 I can think of is Monster Rancher Battle Card: Episode II.

Final Doom-

It's not every day you run across a complete copy of Final Doom on the PS1. Especially not a copy for a mere $10. Even though Final Doom on the PS1 doesn't have all the levels of the PC version, this version of the game will still run you more than that plus shipping for disk-only condition on online buying sites. For me, I think it was a good buy even though I already have it on the PC in the Special Collector's Edition released on the PC a few years back. If you're looking at good FPS games on the PS1, you can't go wrong with the Doom series. The PS1 ports were two of the best console ports of Doom ever made.
