Medal of Honor-
Though some FPS games like Wolfenstein had WWII Nazi themes, MoH was the biggest influence in the modern historical FPS craze. WWII FPS shooter may be overdone and cliche by now, but for it's time, MoH was revolutionary. As stated, Wolfenstein had a WWII theme, but it was still more fantasy based than historical based. MoH was one of, if not, the first to use actual historical setting and events in it's design, and has been one of the most influential games in recent FPS history.
It's Gameplay has a similar objective-based design as games like Goldeneye where you go through the levels completing objectics, and it even threw in a spy/espionage focus. The early MoH games went more into the mythos of WWII as opposed to the big battle scene focus of more modern FPS games. I actually prefer the spy focus of the early MoH games as opposed to the CoD rip-off battle scenes of the newest ones (MoD begat CoD, and now CoD has since begat the new MoH games).
This series has kind-of gotten stale in recent years (yes, they made a Modern Warfare rip-off recently, but that's hardly original, and is just more proof that they are just copying CoD now), but the early games in the series (from the PS1, PS2, and PC) are still great to play if you're not looking for the epic battle scenes (with the exception of the D-day scene in Frontline, and Allied Assault), but are looking for games that focus more on the espionage/Spy mythos of WWII.
